how to become a better writer?
Becoming the best writer you can be is not easy, I can tell you that now. It takes hard work and dedication, but it’s worth the effort. In school, my worst subject was English. Yes it was! Because we had to write so many essays and short stories, and I hated it. My class was first thing in the morning, so considering what we had to do in that class would predict the outcome of the rest of my day. Yes! It was that bad. I always thought you had to be this Einstein of a person to be this great writer. Little did I know, almost twenty years later, all you had to have was a determined mind. You have to have a “I can do anything” attitude! Maybe you haven’t yet got the right mindset in being this great writer, or you need to establish good writing habits. Or maybe you just need to focus on your grammar or creativity. Whatever it is, just know that you too can do it. You can do whatever you put your mind to, even WRITING. For me, it took me a good while to even think of myself as a writer. Never thought I had it in me until I sat down one day and just starting writing and I never stopped. I love writing now. I really enjoy writing devotions for hurting women. I must admit that it took me quite a while to think of myself as a writer, even after I published two of my own books. I still didn’t consider myself a true writer. So, I had to change my mindset. I had to change the way I thought about myself. I had to believe that I was capable of being a writer, and not just any writer, but the best one. There are many ways a person can become the best writer they can be.
First, you must change your mindset. Turn your cant's into cans! You must believe in yourself and believe that you could be the best writer there is. You must believe that you can do whatever you put your mind to.
Second, develop a habit in writing. Take time out of your schedule every day and just write. Don’t think about errors or grammar, just write. You have time later to make the right corrections. If you need to take a writing class to boost your ego, do it. There is nothing wrong with that.
Third, become more creative in your writing. Think outside the box when you write. Let your hands do the talking, I always say to myself. Recognize your fear and overcome it. Break out of your comfort zone. Take risks. Nobody wants to read a boring post or even a boring book.
Fourth, keep it simple. Try not to overdo it with long hard to read words that your readers will need a dictionary to understand. Simple write and let it flow freely from your heart to your hand.
Fifth and last, start and end strong. The most important part of your writing should be your beginning, then your end. You should grab your reader’s attention with your introduction. You want your readers to read past the first three sentences. You want to hook your readers in the beginning, if not, they will not read the rest of your writing. So, make it interesting and grab their attention and you will have your readers racing back to read your next post or book.
